Calvert-Lewin's goal ruled out for handball, then a goal-kick played straight to Kluivert. Evanilson makes it four in four and Adli seals it in stoppage time

Leeds had started well at the Vitality Stadium. They had even put the ball in the net. Then James Trafford took a short goal-kick, passed it straight to a Bournemouth player, and the afternoon was gone.

Evanilson's tap-in on 31 minutes was his goal in a fourth straight Premier League game. Amine Adli's late second, four minutes into stoppage time, put the gloss on it in front of 12,041. Marco Rose's side have now beaten AC Milan, Manchester United and Aston Villa 3-0 in three competitions and followed it with this, their sixth straight win. Daniel Farke, 50 the day before, saw his Leeds side go five league games without a win.

Ruled out, rightly

Leeds came to the south coast with three draws from four winless games and plenty of questions about whether Farke should take the handbrake off. For the first half hour, he looked to have done just that. Dan James beat his man on the left and sent a low ball across the six-yard box that Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed by inches.

On 11 minutes they thought they had the lead. Jayden Bogle, Harry Wilson and Justin worked it slickly down the right, and Justin's first-time ball found Calvert-Lewin, making his 50th appearance for the club. Đorđe Petrović saved the first effort, but the rebound went in off the striker's left arm. VAR spotted it and the goal was ruled out.

A goal-kick to forget

Leeds were having a good spell when it happened. Tarik Muharemovic rolled a short goal-kick to Trafford, and the goalkeeper had what can only be called a head-loss moment. He played it straight to Justin Kluivert in the box, and Kluivert unselfishly slipped it left for Evanilson to roll into an empty net. The home fans spent the rest of the afternoon chanting "dodgy keeper" at him.

I don't know what James Trafford is doing. I'm a big fan of the build-up, but that's not it when you pass straight to a Bournemouth player. It's the easiest goal they've scored this season. Trafford has had a shocker.

Scott Brown, former Celtic captain, BBC Final Score

Bournemouth came alive after that. Rayan hammered a low ball across that Trafford held, Nico Elvedi was booked for an accumulation of fouls and Farke talked himself into the book too. Ryan Christie was booked just before the break, and Harry Wilson sent the free-kick high into the Bournemouth fans.

Leeds run out of ideas

The second half belonged to Leeds in terms of the ball, but not the chances. Their fans never stopped singing, and their side needed to be braver. Ethan Ampadu was booked for tripping Evanilson on the edge of the box, and Trafford palmed away Marcus Tavernier's free-kick. Then Rayan, who had been grafting as hard as he attacked all afternoon, lashed a bouncing ball inches wide.

Farke sent on Sean Longstaff, Lukas Nmecha and Anton Stach on 65 minutes, then Brenden Aaronson and Jean-Matteo Bahoya. Calvert-Lewin rose like a salmon at a corner but only flicked it off the top of his head. Stach blasted a free-kick from the edge of the box closer to the stand than the goal. Bournemouth looked comfortable throughout.

Trafford did at least read Álvaro Rodríguez's late effort well. But in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Adli, on for Rayan, robbed Sean Longstaff, got the ball back from Junior Kroupi's lovely threaded pass, controlled it with his left and finished with his left. It was his third goal in four games.

Leeds ended with one shot on target. Bournemouth had five and the points. It has not been great going forward from Farke's side, and it is now five games without a win.

"Football is brutal"

Farke would not hang his goalkeeper out to dry. Trafford, he said, "has all my trust and all my love", and his advice was simple.

My recommendation is not to watch it back.

Daniel Farke, Leeds United manager, post-match press conference (Leeds Live)

We are disappointed. Football is brutal.

Daniel Farke

He was adamant his side had deserved better. "We would have deserved so much more out of this game," he said.

Rose admitted Bournemouth had been lucky when Calvert-Lewin's goal was chalked off. Bournemouth look for those chances to pounce on a keeper playing out, he said, and of Trafford's mistake: "Today we were rewarded."

We knew that it's going to be different today. Leeds are a really good opposition. They matched our intensity and have really good players in possession. We came better and better, we scored the goals in the right moments and that's why we are quite happy today.

Marco Rose, Bournemouth manager, to BBC Match of the Day

It's part of our identity to be front footed. It's good if it's working out because then you get more confidence.

Marco Rose, on forcing errors

On Evanilson, four in four now, Rose said: "The only thing he lacked was scoring by himself and that's what he's started now." And he had not forgotten where his side were a few weeks ago. "I remember all the stories we had five or six weeks ago in a different situation. I'm quite happy we changed the momentum and finally rewarded ourselves."

It is the first time Bournemouth have won three Premier League games in a row without conceding.
