ROGERS STRIKES, MARTINEZ SNAPS AND UNITED FALL APART
Carrick's men had the better of the first half and missed the lot. Then came a £117m solo goal, a red card and a penalty, and a ninth game without a win
For 45 minutes Manchester United were the better side at Stamford Bridge. There were boos for Chelsea at half-time. Within 20 minutes of the restart United were a goal down and a man down, Cole Palmer was putting away a penalty, and the home end was singing "you're getting sacked in the morning" at Michael Carrick.
It is now nine games without a win in all competitions, United's longest run since October and November 1988. This was their third defeat in a row and fourth in the league, and it leaves them 16th, a point above the bottom three. Carrick survived the week after the 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth. He will do well to survive the next one.
