MAN UTD

Carrick: nine without a win

The home end at Stamford Bridge sang "you're getting sacked in the morning" at Michael Carrick. Asked whether he expected to stay in charge, he said only: "Yeah." The Athletic reports that United's hierarchy privately agreed to wait until the November international break before deciding his future. That leaves Roma on Tuesday and Aston Villa on 8 November.

"We didn't really get going second half. We could've, should've been up really first half," said Carrick.

WEST HAM

Nuno: "This is the reality"

West Ham lost 3-1 at home to West Brom, and both ends sang "You're getting sacked in the morning." It is four home games without a win in all competitions, three of them defeats.

"This is the reality. You can only change this if we win games. We dropped points against Burnley, lost to Charlton, Southampton and West Brom. The only solution is to improve," said Nuno Espirito Santo.

CRYSTAL PALACE

Sage: "I will never give up"

Ten-man Palace lost 2-0 at Tottenham and stay in the bottom three, with two league wins in nine. "You can trust in me, I will never give up. Our situation is bad and we have to take things in our hand," said Pierre Sage, after Hoffenheim and Liverpool next.

Leeds (Daniel Farke) are five league games without a win after losing 2-0 at Bournemouth. Farke on James Trafford's mistake: "has all my trust and all my love".

PREMIER LEAGUE, 8PM, ST JAMES' PARK

NEWCASTLE v EVERTON: ROUND TWO

Four days after Everton won 3-1 in the Carabao Cup, the sides meet again in the league. Everton trail Newcastle by a point after eight games, and they have won on each of their last two visits to St James' Park.

Team news: Newcastle are without Tino Livramento (knee) and Ewen Jaouen (thigh). Will Osula twisted his ankle on Thursday and is a doubt, as are Lewis Miley and Matias Fernandez-Pardo. Harvey Barnes is due to make his 100th Premier League appearance for the club. Everton expect Jarrad Branthwaite to be through concussion protocols. Jack Grealish, left out on Thursday for a breach of club discipline, may or may not return.

David Moyes: "It's a different ball game going to St James' Park on a Monday evening. They've got a great crowd up there so you always know you're up against it. But we go up there with confidence."

Opta's supercomputer gives Newcastle a 45.9% chance, Everton 27.4% and the draw 26.7%.
