SWANS ROAR BACK FROM THE LOFTUS ROAD WRECKAGE

A week after shipping five at QPR, Matos's side are three up by the 36th minute and Ross Stewart finally gets off the mark

By Our Special Correspondent

Last Saturday Swansea lost 5-0 at QPR, a week after a home defeat by West Ham. Questions were being asked of Vitor Matos. In front of 16,867 at the Swansea.com Stadium, this was his answer, and Blackburn had no reply.

Matos left Zan Vipotnik and Adam Idah on the bench and gave Ross Stewart his first start up front. Twenty minutes in, Blackburn had yet to muster a shot. By then they were already behind.

Scorers Swansea: Eustaquio 11, Opoku 32, Lissah 36, Stewart 59

The marks

Swansea bounce back from two straight defeats to stay second on 26 points, two behind leaders Middlesbrough. Blackburn, who'd won four of their previous six, drop to 13th after their heaviest defeat since April 2024.

Stephen Eustaquio Opened the scoring from close range, his second since leaving Porto, but went off injured
Filip Lissah The academy product scored his first senior Swansea goal in his 14th appearance
Ross Stewart Handed his first start, and repaid it with the goal of the day, his first for the club
Eom Ji-Sung Tested Toth twice before the break, then set up Stewart's finish
Balazs Toth Busy all afternoon, and got a touch to Lissah's shot without keeping it out
