PARKER'S FIRST NIGHT

HAMMERS RISE FROM THE DEAD

Cardiff 3, West Ham 3. Cardiff: Jack Moylan 11, 37 pen, 39; West Ham: Divine Mukasa 58, Arne Engels 65, Maximilian Kilman 82. Moylan's first-half hat-trick counts for nothing as West Ham haul back three goals in Cardiff

Scott Parker signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at West Ham on Wednesday morning. By half-time on Wednesday night his side were 3-0 down. By the final whistle he had a point and a story.

Jack Moylan was unstoppable in the first half. The former Lincoln City striker found a pocket of space on the edge of the area after 11 minutes and rifled the ball past Mads Hermansen into the top corner from 20 yards. He scored the second from the spot on 37 minutes after slowing down for Morato to bundle him over, then came in behind Will Fish to head in Joel Bagan's corner two minutes later. It was 3-0 at the break.

Parker sent on Mohamadou Kante and Joel Piroe at half-time. On 58 minutes Bowen floated a pass through and Divine Mukasa lifted it over Nathan Trott and in off a post. Seven minutes later Piroe flicked on another Bowen ball and Arne Engels slid home his first West Ham goal, and the comeback was on.

With eight minutes left, Jarrod Bowen swung in a delicious curling cross with his left foot from the right. It swirled past the defence and drew the keeper off his line, and Max Kilman, of all people, popped up to cushion a striker's finish into the top corner from eight yards. The Cardiff players trudged back very quietly for the kick-off.

West Ham nearly threw it away again. Nathan Trott's huge clearance bounced through, Hermansen came racing out of his area and Yousef Salech got there first to nod past him, the keeper colliding heavily with Kilman as he tracked back. Cardiff could not find a winner.

Parker has inherited the slow starts, but on his first night his side showed they could recover from one.

Where it leaves them: Cardiff 18th on 14 points; West Ham 8th on 22 points. The draw stretches Cardiff's unbeaten home league run to ten games; West Ham sit eighth, the final play-off place.

“A really disappointing evening, we've had to mix things up before the game as we lost Ryan Hedges in training,”

NORWICH HIT FOUR AT PRIDE PARK

Derby 0, Norwich 4. Norwich: Anthony Musaba 8, Paris Maghoma 27, Darlin Yongwa 44, J. Makama 66. Three up by half-time as Derby's slide goes on

Norwich City were out of sight by half-time at Pride Park and finished the job with room to spare, winning 4-0 to leave Derby County deeper in the mire.

Anthony Musaba opened the scoring after eight minutes, Paris Maghoma doubled it on 27 from Jack Stacey's pass and Darlin Yongwa made it three a minute before the break.

Jovon Makama added the fourth on 66 minutes with a right-footed drive from outside the box.

The numbers told the story as plainly as the scoreline. Norwich had 16 shots to Derby's four and seven on target to one, and the home side managed an expected-goals figure of just 0.24.

Derby have one win from 14 league games and stay 23rd on seven points. For Norwich, a third straight win lifts them to 12th on 18 points.

Derby host Bolton on Friday night, while Norwich go to Bristol City on Saturday lunchtime.

"A really disappointing evening, we've had to mix things up before the game as we lost Ryan Hedges in training," Derby head coach John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby. "Tactically I got it wrong tonight and I'll take full responsibility for the performance. I'm confident I can turn things around, I'm certainly not giving up."

Norwich head coach Philippe Clement told BBC Radio Norfolk: "The team did what we wanted to do tonight by being dominant on the ball and controlling the game with the ball." Opening scorer Anthony Musaba added: "We got a clean sheet with loads of goals so it's a top performance."

Derby skipper Carlton Morris did not spare his own dressing room. "It's just unacceptable, it's not how we represent this great football club," he told BBC Radio Derby. "We need people to stand up and not shrink, it's too easy to go under, too easy to not want the ball and too easy to be scared to make a mistake."

Where it leaves them: Derby 23rd on 7 points; Norwich 12th on 18 points. Derby sit 23rd on seven points; Norwich climb to 12th on 18.

CHAMPIONSHIP

PECK'S PERFECT 19 MINUTES SINK PRESTON

Preston 2, Sheffield Utd 3. Preston: Leo Leroy 2, Callum Lang 76; Sheff Utd: Sydie Peck 27, 37, 45+1. First-half hat-trick turns the game at Deepdale and leaves North End rooted to the bottom

Sydie Peck had never scored more than once in a game. At Deepdale, in front of 13,723, he did it three times before half-time.

Preston started brightly. Leo Leroy put them ahead in the second minute, from Andrija Vukčević's assist. Then Peck took over. Harrison Burrows set up the equaliser on 27 minutes, Ben Brereton the second ten minutes later, and Romelle Donovan the third in first-half stoppage time.

Callum Lang pulled one back on 76 minutes, sweeping in Alfie Devine's pass from the centre of the box. The Blades held on, and Preston remain bottom.

"Sydie's all-round performance was excellent - he's a touch disappointed as he had two good chances in the second half. He'll get all the headlines and deservedly so," Blades boss Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield. "One day he'll hopefully captain this club - it was too early for him when I came back and I needed to make sure he got his head down and showed he's a good footballer and he was a good footballer tonight."

Preston manager Graham Alexander saw something to build on after the break. "We have to find a way of creating that mentality, that anger, because that's what I thought we saw in the second half. There was an anger about our team. A controlled anger," he said. "There are times when we might look like we don't care or we're not fully committed but we are."

Where it leaves them: Preston 24th on 5 points; Sheff Utd 9th on 22 points. Preston stay bottom with five points from 14 games. Sheffield United move up to ninth on 22.

FRATTON FIREWORKS

DEVLIN DOUBLE DOWNS SWANS

Portsmouth 3, Swansea 1. Portsmouth: Terry Devlin 36, 90+2, Thomas Waddingham 90+8; Swansea: Zan Vipotnik 85 pen. Pompey strike twice in stoppage time to beat the Championship's second-placed side

Terry Devlin, handed the right-back shirt in one of John Mousinho's four changes, scored twice as Portsmouth beat high-flying Swansea under the Fratton Park lights.

Devlin put Pompey ahead in the 36th minute and they held that lead until the 85th, when substitute Zan Vipotnik levelled from the penalty spot.

Swansea did not get long to enjoy it. Devlin struck again in the 92nd minute, and fellow substitute Waddingham added a third deep in stoppage time, in the 98th minute.

It follows Saturday's goalless draw at Burnley and keeps Pompey's unbeaten run going, while Vitor Matos' Swansea, fresh from a 4-0 win over Blackburn, missed the chance to go top and drop to fourth. Tempers boiled over after the final whistle, with members of both coaching staffs involved in a confrontation in the centre circle, BBC Radio Wales reported.

"It was a massive win and a really important night for us," Pompey boss John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent. "I was disappointed with the way we conceded. I thought it was a really soft penalty. We had opportunities on the counter attack but to respond to the equaliser in the way we did was magnificent."

Swansea boss Vitor Matos, speaking after the game, said: "It wasn't easy at the end but we want to be a team that stays emotionally balanced and calm in every situation. That is something we can improve."

Where it leaves them: Portsmouth 10th on 22 points; Swansea 4th on 26 points. Pompey's unbeaten league run stretches to six games

BLUES ON THE CHARGE

BLUES BLITZ LIONS INSIDE HALF AN HOUR

Birmingham 3, Millwall 0. Birmingham: Alex Cochrane 1, Max Bird 16, Jay Stansfield 29. Cochrane, Bird and Stansfield strike before the half-hour as Birmingham climb to second

Birmingham City had this one won before the half-hour. Alex Cochrane scored inside 49 seconds, Max Bird and Jay Stansfield followed, and a 3-0 win in front of 25,044 at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park lifts Chris Davies' side to second in the Championship.

Cochrane's opener came from a long free-kick by goalkeeper Allsop. Millwall cleared it only as far as the full-back, and he drove it low into the corner from 25 yards.

Bird, on his first start for the club, made it two in the 16th minute. Jhon Solís found him in space, and Bird sidestepped his man and picked out the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Thirteen minutes later he turned provider, finding Stansfield, who cut in from the right and finished left-footed from the edge of the area.

Millwall were not without openings. Allsop saved a Taylor header from a Lyndon Dykes long throw and Lisbie fired the rebound over, while Dykes lifted one over the bar after a dangerous counter.

After the break Camiel Neghli hit the crossbar for the visitors, and substitute Carlos Vicente struck a post late on for Blues before Max Crocombe gathered the rebound.

The win makes it ten home games unbeaten, and BBC Sport noted it is the first time since 2009 that they have won three home Championship games in a row without conceding.

Millwall, who thrashed Derby 4-1 on Saturday, slip to 13th.

"Getting a margin in a game is wonderful as you can give yourself a cushion to work within," Blues boss Chris Davies told BBC Radio WM. "We were fluid, aggressive in the press, didn't give them time or give anything away."

Davies was not getting carried away by second place. "The league table at the moment is temporary but when I came in, the club had been relegated to League One so we've come a long way since then - we feel we deserve to be where we are but there's a long way to go."

Where it leaves them: Birmingham 2nd on 26 points; Millwall 13th on 18 points. Birmingham go second in the Championship on 26 points, level with Stoke and Swansea
